A graduate member of the Tomahawk High School Class of 1967 participating four years in football and track, three years in wrestling and one year in basketball. Don earned ten letters during his high school career (three in wrestling and football and four in track).
Some special high school honors that Don received included eight All Conference honors. In wrestling he was Second Team All Conference as a sophomore, First Team All Conference as a junior, and Second Team All Conference as a senior. In football Don was All Conference Honorable Mention as a junior and All Conference on offense as a senior. In track he was All Conference Honorable Mention in the discus as a junior, All Conference Honorable Mention in the shot put as a senior and First Team All Conference in the discus as a senior.
Don was quite active on the state level, becoming a qualifier three times in track participating during his sophomore, junior and senior years and placing third his senior year in the discus with a toss of 148'11 1/2'. Don was also a state qualifier in wrestling at heavyweight during his junior and senior years.
Don was part of the very first wrestling team in Tomahawk's history. He played basketball his freshman year, but changed the following year when wrestling was introduced by Coach Bob Meyer.
Today, Don is employed for Brock Grain Systems as general plant manager in Kansas City, Missouri.
